The thought of having over 100 tabs open on your Internet browser is simply beyond imagination

Leaving tabs open may be convenient for some users as they serve as a bookmark of sorts. However, for some, it's more of a messy predicament.

Recently, an X user revealed that she had almost 7,500 open tabs on her Internet browser, which she promptly lost after the browser unexpectedly shut down.

In a recent post, a user by the name of Hazel shared a screenshot revealing she had an astonishing 7,470 tabs open simultaneously on Mozilla Firefox

Initially, she expressed sadness that Firefox could not restore such a massive tab load, which she had accumulated over two years.

However, Hazel successfully revived her extensive digital collection utilising the browser's profile cache functionality. Her feat showcases both her dedication to Firefox and her remarkable ability to manage an extraordinary number of tabs.

Check out her post detailing the feat below:

What's crazy is despite having an insurmountable amount of tabs open on her browser, she said that its impact on her computer is "marginal"

She explained that the session file containing all 7,470 tabs is approximately 70MB in size.

Firefox is said to optimise its performance by loading tabs into memory only if they have been accessed recently. This efficient approach to memory management enables Hazel to maintain her extensive tab collection without significantly impacting her browser's performance or resource consumption.

For us, this means that our computers may also continue to run smoothly even with over a thousand tabs open in the background. Isn't that convenient?

A Mozilla representative also confirmed that their browser's marginal memory consumption had worked as intended

Speaking to PCMag, a Mozilla representative said that having countless open tabs consumes "practically no memory whatsoever".

"We've been working hard on the performance of Firefox over the last several years, and we're glad to see the results of those efforts paying off," added Mozilla.
